I keep hearing about Dreamweaver, can anybody tell me what it is?

Short answer - Dreamweaver is a professional HTML editor.

Long Answer - Dreamweaver is an application that enables web developers to create websites in a wysiwyg environment. If you want to create professoinal web pages but don't have the ability to code HTML by hand, Dreamweaver is for you.

Originally created by Macromedia (along with Flash, Fireworks etc...) Dreamweaver and the rest of Macromedias catalogue was purchased by giant software company Adobe in 2005. Dreamweaver is currently in its CS3 incarnation and remains the best tool for non coders to create web pages.
