So you want to go surfing?
You have your wetsuit, surfboard, wax and plenty of enthusiasm what else do you need? Mmmm…. Surfing is a dangerous sport, especially for beginners. Being out in the ocean with a 6ft surfboard is fun, but with this comes a certain amount of responsibility. You should always follow the rules of surfing etiquette and you should definitely invest in some form of Surfing insurance. Personal liability insurance is an absolute must have if you want to go surfing. Uncontrolled surfboards can injure and even kill whilst out in the surf. The number of times I have seen beginner’s let go of their boards and dive under large set waves is high to say the least. When you let go of your board, it can be washed back by the passing wave and could potentially strike another surfer. I have witnessed this a few times in the summer madness of Croyde and Fistral and I often wonder if the offenders have adequate personal liability insurance. Surfers have died from this type of thing, I myself was injured in 2003 when a mindless newbie could’nt get through a 4ft wave at Tolcarne beach. I was paddling out and next minute a rock hard pop-out board is coming right at me. A collision was unavoidable and it left me with slight concussion and 14 stitches above my eye, a few centimetres lower and it would of hit my eye and this article would be in Braille! How do you get surfing insurance?Get a quote from an insurance companies and buy personal liability insurance.
So next time your sitting outback with your weapon between your legs just think, do I need insurance for this thing! (the surfboard! ooh your dirty mind!) Search For Related ContentComments (0)
