Does W3C XHTML Validation make a difference? 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Well having spent the last few hours trying to get azpunkazme.com XHTML valid has been a real pain the rear end. However 99% of the pages on this site are now XHTML web standards compliant! ironically this page is not XHTML valid, but I am working on it!

Is this a waste of time? well I think not, my web skills go back to the times of nested tables, hundreds of <table> tags littered all of my code up until recently. Getting nested tables to validate yet still look nice can be a major headache as I am sure some of you will know. I find using CSS with XHTML rather than tables allows me to get the code validated much faster.

Validation allows me to sleep soundly at night, safe in the knowledge that accessablity readers, googlebot and all the major web browsers love my code! However, does validation really make a difference? after all most visitors to the site will not be checking the code, and validation is still not a guarantee that the page will actually work.

For me, I would prefer to have validated code, but the subject still remains a controversial subject for most web developers.

What do you guys think?
